President Wang Qing-Feng Visits Hualien to Offer Comfort to Red Cross Disaster RescueTeam

President Wang exchanged views with County Magistrate Xu regarding the earthquake situation and the needs of the disaster-affected residents

On the morning of March 5th, President Wang Qing-Feng of our association swiftly traveled to Hualien to pay her respects and offer condolences to the dedicated members of the Hualien Red Cross Disaster Rescue Team, who selflessly volunteered for post-earthquake rescue operations.

During her visit, President Wang held initial discussions with Hualien County Magistrate Xu Zhenwei, Fire Chief Wu Zhaoyuan, and Legislative Yuan Convener Fu Kun-chi, all deeply involved in monitoring the disaster situation in Hualien. They exchanged insights on the urgent assistance required for areas and individuals affected by the earthquake. Magistrate Xu expressed the hope that the Red Cross could provide solace to the 12 confirmed deceased, aid the 28 hospitalized individuals, and support tenants of buildings marked with yellow warning labels, which pose greater concerns than those with red labels. President Wang assured Magistrate Xu of the Red Cross's unwavering commitment to aiding those impacted by the disaster.

Subsequently, President Wang visited temporary shelters at Zhonghua Elementary School and Hua Jen Junior High School, where she interacted with survivors and inspected the tent facilities established by the Red Cross. Concurrently, the Civil Affairs Bureau requested 100 blankets due to the cooling weather. Volunteers from our Hualien Disaster Preparedness Center promptly delivered the blankets to Zhonghua Elementary School, where they were distributed to those in need.

President Wang emphasized the Red Cross's enduring dedication to humanitarianism, stating, "Where there is a need, there we will be." She urged individuals to demonstrate compassion and extend a helping hand to aid Hualien's residents in their recovery and reconstruction endeavors following the disaster
